WinToUSB – This is quite an interesting utility that will write an operating system to your flash drive, not for installation, but for immediate booting from it. This feature is called “Windows To Go”. The application is free for most functions, but if you need all the features, you can purchase it from the official website for $29.90.
In this article, however, we will use the free version of the application.
You can download the application either from the official website or from our server.
The application requires installation; we won’t describe the installation process, as it’s standard. Let’s go straight to the main window of the application. Click on the “Folder” button to select the desired installer. In our case, it will be a installer with different versions of Windows 10. We recommend using only original installers, you can download various versions of Windows images from our catalog.
Once you select the necessary installer, a window with the selection of system versions will appear if your installer contains installers for different editions. In our case, these are different versions of Windows 10. Let’s choose the “Home” version of Windows 10 as an example. Then click “Next.”
Now, select the flash drive, open the dropdown menu, and choose the one you need.
The application will ask how to format the partition for Bios or UEFI (Dual selection is only available in the paid version). You can choose any option here. If you have UEFI, choose that, but if you don’t, choose Bios. Let’s choose Bios as an example.
Wait for the formatting to complete.
Here, you need to select the installation mode. Choose the Legacy (VHDX is only available in the paid version) and click “Next.”
Now, wait for the installation process to complete. This may take 30-40 minutes.
Once the application notifies you of the installation completion, you can restart your PC and set up your Bios/UEFI to boot from the flash drive and use it as a bootable disk for Windows!
