If you have licensed your Windows Server RDS License (CAL) to access RDP (Remote Desktop) capabilities, but you get the following error - "Remote Desktop License Issue. There is a problem with your Remote Desktop license, and your session will bedisconnected in 60 minutes. Contact your system administrator to fix this problem".

Why does such an error appear?

You have activated the RDS User CAL license (Per user), but your server is not part of the domain.

What is the solution to the problem?

There are two ways to solve the problem:

1) Add your server to the domain. (Install or create a domain on your server)

2) Or in the server licensing settings, change the setting to "per Device" instead of "per User".

You can do this in the menu: "Search" on the toolbar => gpedit.msc => Computer Configuration => Administrative Templates => Windows Components => Remote Desktop Services => Remote Desktop Session Host => Licensing => Set the remote desktop licensing mode. In the drop-down menu, select "Per device", click "OK" and restart your server.

(This option does not always help in solving the problem)

If this not working, you need to renew or recreate again the license to work.
