After turning on a computer with Windows XP installed, a message appears requiring activation of the operating system to log in. This may be due to reinstalling the system and the expiration of the 30-day trial period. In this guide, we will describe how to activate Windows XP by phone.

Step 1: Preparing for Activation

Make sure you have the Windows XP product key. It is usually located on the bottom cover of the laptop or on the packaging of the operating system disk.

Turn on the PC and wait for the message requiring activation to appear.

Step 2: Starting the Activation Wizard

Click “Yes” in the message window requiring activation.
In the activation wizard window, select “Yes, I want to telephone a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows” and click “Next”.

Step 3: Selecting a Location

In the next window, select your location from the list. This is necessary to choose the correct Microsoft activation service number.
Click “Next”.

Step 4: Calling the Activation Service

The screen will display a toll-free Microsoft activation service number.

Step 5: Entering the Confirmation ID

After providing the installation ID to the robot over the phone, the automated system will give you a confirmation ID.
Enter the confirmation ID in the corresponding fields on the activation wizard screen.

Click “Next” to complete the activation.

Phone activation of Windows XP allows you to use the operating system even without an internet connection. If this method does not work for some reason, try activating the system via the internet.

Note: In 2024, activating Windows XP may face difficulties due to the end of support for this version of the operating system.
