Windows 7 remains a fairly common operating system, even though its support ended in 2020. Windows 7 is still a modern system that supports almost everything that Windows 10 does. If your computer has a weak configuration, Windows 7 is a salvation and a golden compromise. In this article, we will explain what actions are best to take to optimize your Windows 7 and make your OS run like clockwork.

1) The first tip is to use only original Windows 7 installers. We strongly recommend avoiding pirated builds, as these builds do not guarantee stable operation due to various changes in the installer itself. Also, avoid various cracks and kms activators, as these activation bypass schemes can bring viruses into your system, which can seriously affect performance.

Therefore, we recommend using original product keys for Windows 7. You can purchase them in our online store at the lowest prices. Fast delivery to your email. 24/7 tech support and warranty. You can check out Windows 7 product keys on the next page.

2) Open the “Startup” menu by pressing Win+R => msconfig.exe

Remove everything unnecessary from there. The fewer applications in the startup, the better. Leave only the most necessary applications that you need personally. Disable everything unnecessary by unchecking the boxes.

3) Now let’s configure the services. Open the “Services” menu by pressing Win+R => services.msc. Now the question is, which services to disable? Which ones are not particularly needed?

How to disable?

– Find the required service => Right-click => Properties => In the dropdown menu select “Disabled”. Then “Apply” => “Ok”.

“Windows Defender” – If you use a third-party antivirus, this service is completely useless.

“Windows Backup” – Not the most reliable way for backups. Using third-party backup applications will keep your files safer.

“Secondary Logon” – If you use only one account on the computer (Administrator) and do not use secondary accounts, you can disable it. Note that creating other accounts will be unavailable until you enable this service.

“Print Spooler” – If you do not use a printer on your PC, this service is not needed.

“Server” – If you do not use a local network, you can disable it.

“Tablet PC Input Service” – Useless service if you do not use a touch screen.

“Windows Media Center Scheduler Service” – Windows Media Center is already a forgotten application that has a separate service running for it. You can disable it if you do not use this player.

“Bluetooth Support Service” – If you do not use Bluetooth on your PC, you can disable it.

“BitLocker Drive Encryption Service” – You can disable it if you do not use the built-in BitLocker encryption system.

“Remote Desktop Services” – If you do not use the RDP feature on your PC, you can disable it.

“Remote Registry” – Another feature for remote work. If you do not use it, you can disable it. Disabling it also enhances system security.

“Fax” – Disable if you do not use fax.

“Windows Update” – If you do not plan to receive updates (which is no longer relevant for Windows 7), you can disable it.

4) Disabling visual effects. Visual effects consume a significant amount of resources. Disable Aero by setting “Basic Windows 7” or “Classic” in the “Personalization” menu.

Right-click on the desktop => Personalization

Also, you can set “Best Performance” from the “System Properties” menu. To do this, go to:

System Properties => “Advanced system settings” => In the “Performance” tab, select “Settings” => Then in the “Visual Effects” tab, select “Adjust for best performance”. Then “Apply” and “Ok”.

Overall, this is all that can be done at the software level to improve the performance of Windows 7. We also recommend using an SSD instead of hard drives (HDD) as the system drive. Using an SSD significantly increases your system’s performance due to faster read and write speeds. This is not just some mythical increase in work speed; in read operations, SSDs are more than 90 times faster than HDDs, and in write operations, more than 170 times faster. A visual comparison in tests – the test on the left shows HDD, and on the right, SSD (of course, the data may vary depending on the manufacturer of HDD and SSD), but the fact is evident.
