If you encounter any issues with your system, such as a frozen desktop or PC rebooting/shutting down unexpectedly, we strongly recommend not resorting to a complete system reinstall as a first step. Instead, let’s explore how to check Windows logs, as they contain error information. We’ll discuss it in this article.

This instruction is applicable to all versions of Windows, starting from Windows 7 and newer.

Press the hotkeys Win + R => Then type eventvwr.msc in the Run dialog box.
This will open a window. On the left, expand the directory tree – “Windows Logs”. For example, under the “Application” section, you’ll see a list of all program openings on your PC. If an error occurred during an opening, it will be displayed here.

The “Security” tab shows audit logs with information about access to your PC. It will indicate what actions were performed by which user and when.

In the “Setup” tab, you can view Windows logs, such as system updates.

The “System” tab is the most crucial one. Through this log, you can identify many errors occurring in Windows or errors related to your PC’s hardware. For example, a faulty video card causing a blue screen (BSOD).

These logs can provide valuable insights into what might be causing issues with your system, helping you troubleshoot and resolve them effectively.
