If you encounter an error with code – 0x87E10BC6 while trying to download or install updates in the system, or when activating (or upgrading from the “Home” version to Pro), there are several ways to fix it.
1) Go to the “Services” menu, which can be accessed by pressing the Win + R hotkeys => In the input field, type services.msc => In the “Services” window, find the “Windows Defender Firewall” entry => Double-click on it and switch it to manual mode. Apply the changes. Additionally, we recommend disabling your antivirus temporarily during updates or activation if you have one installed, as it may block outgoing and incoming connections to Microsoft servers.
Now you can retry system activation or update.
2) If you need to activate the system or, for example, upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro with a Windows 10 Pro product key that you have, you can try activating using an alternative method through the terminal, following these instructions.
3) Additionally, we recommend using only original Windows 10 distributions. You can download them from the Microsoft website following these instructions, or from our catalog.
